My PhD project on the architectural history of Nigerian postcolonial universities was largely based on archival research conducted in multiple archives across Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The research itself was an AHRC Collaborative Doctoral Partnership with The National Archives, Kew (TNA). This meant I spent countless visits poring through TNA records on Nigerian and West African universities built before and after the independence of West African countries.
In a blogpost for TNA Research Blog, I discuss my examination of TNA records and how they reflect the changing political landscape of colonialism and independence in mid-20th century West Africa.
